Frost & Ember

A Triangle Book Arts group exhibition

November 6, 2026—January 30, 2027

Chapel Hill Frame and Fine Art Gallery, Chapel Hill, NC

From curator Kathy Bayard: "The exhibition presents winter not as absence or dormancy but as a season of thresholds, marked by the winter solstice—where structure is revealed, warmth is safeguarded, and small intensities matter. Through fold, fiber, spine, and thread, artists translate cold and heat into tactile experience, inviting viewers to open and discover the quiet drama held between pages."

FEATURED

Glue Book Binding

A very generous gift of copies of the book Glue: Collage, Assemblage & Other Sticky Pursuits in sheets was given by Uppercase Magazine to a group of binders.

For the primary aspect of my design, I aimed to immortalize the familiar build up of dried glue around the top or bottom of a container and the compulsion to remove it all in one pull. To let some of the foundational material and “mess” take center stage as a contrast to the wonderful work inside which is intricate, vibrant, and colorful. The tactile build up of PVA adhesive is both literal in form but abstract at first glance. A circle motif ties the front, back, spine together. Binding is long stitch with link stitch.
